Trinance for Windows
The desktop app: download, updates, and the basics.
Trinance for Windows is the desktop app: the same calm view of your money on your PC, with your data kept on your computer. It's free.
Download and install
- Go to devpire.com/downloads and choose Download for Windows on the Trinance card.
- Run the installer. It installs for your Windows account only, with no admin prompt, and adds Trinance to your desktop and Start menu.
It runs on Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit and 32-bit.
If Windows shows Windows protected your PC, choose More info, then Run anyway. The downloads page explains why this appears.
Updates
Trinance checks for updates on its own every 30 minutes and downloads them in the background. When one's ready, choose Update and install now, or Update later to install it the next time you close the app. To check yourself, go to Settings → About & updates → Check for updates.
Find your way around
The sidebar on the left holds:
- Dashboard: your money at a glance. Reports: where your money actually went.
- Accounts, Transactions, Income and Bills. Due income and bills post automatically.
- Budgets and Goals.
- Markets: a live market snapshot and financial news.
- Tools (calculator, currency, paycheck, loan payoff and savings) and Settings, at the bottom.
Shortcuts: Ctrl+K opens Tools, Ctrl+B collapses the sidebar and Ctrl+, opens Settings.
Profiles and PIN
Like the iPhone app, you can have up to three profiles, each with an optional 4-digit PIN. Use the profile button at the bottom of the sidebar to switch. The PIN keeps a profile private from others using your PC, but it doesn't encrypt the data, so keep your Windows account secure too.
Your data
Everything is stored on your PC. Settings → Your data lets you import transactions from a CSV, save a backup file, and export a JSON file. The same screen shows where your data folder is.
To move to iPhone, see Moving from Windows.
Bank sync on Windows
If your Trinance account has Trinance Pro or Premium, you can sign in from the Bank sync card on the Accounts page, with the same emailed code, and link banks through Plaid. Your plan's bank limit is shared with your other devices, because linked banks belong to your account.
