AI features
The assistant, auto-categorize and AI entry: what they do, how to turn them on, and exactly what's sent.
Trinance has three AI features, all part of Trinance Pro and Premium:
- Assistant: ask questions about your money and get answers from your real numbers.
- Auto-categorize: files uncategorized transactions for you to review.
- AI entry: type entries the way you'd say them and they're added.
They run on Devpire's AI service, which uses Google's Gemini to write answers.
Turn on AI features
AI is off until you turn it on, separately for each profile. Open the Assistant (More → Assistant), read what's sent, and tap Turn on AI features. You need to be signed in with an active plan.
To turn it off again, open the Assistant, tap the … menu and choose Turn off AI features.
The Assistant
Go to More → Assistant and ask anything about your money, or tap a suggestion such as:
- How much did I spend in the last 30 days?
- Which category is eating my money?
- Am I on track for my goals?
- What bills are coming up?
Choose Monthly recap from the … menu for a short summary of the month: how your spending compares with recent months, anything unusual, how your goals and budgets are doing, and a tip.
The conversation is kept only while Trinance is open, and is cleared when you close the app. Clear conversation in the … menu starts over. Touch and hold an answer to copy it.
If you ask a lot in a short time, the assistant asks you to slow down for a few minutes.
Auto-categorize
- On the Activity tab, tap the filter button, then Auto-categorize.
- Trinance reads the notes on your uncategorized transactions and suggests a category for each.
- Review the suggestions. Untick any you don't want, or pick a different category.
- Tap Apply.
Nothing is saved until you apply. It only looks at transactions that have a note and no category, and only suggests categories you already have.
AI entry
- Go to More → Tools → AI entry.
- Type one or more entries the way you'd say them, such as
coffee 6.50, gas 42.80 yesterday, paycheck 1500 on friday. - Tap Turn into entries.
- Check the preview. Tap an entry to change it, including choosing an account, or remove it.
- Tap Add all.
Up to 20 entries at a time.
What's sent, and what isn't
| Feature | What's sent with each request |
|---|---|
| Assistant | Your question, the recent conversation, and a compact summary of this profile: totals, account names and balances, categories with budgets and recent spending, bills and income, goals, and monthly income and spending totals for the last six months. Individual transactions and their notes aren't included. |
| Auto-categorize | Up to 80 of your most recent uncategorized transactions that have a note: the date, amount, type and the start of the note. Plus your category names. |
| AI entry | The text you typed, today's date and your category names. |
It goes to Devpire's server, which passes it to Google's Gemini API to write the answer. We don't store your questions, the summary or the answers. Nothing is sent until you turn AI on, and only when you use it.
