Accounts
Add every place your money lives, from checking to loans, and see your assets, debts and net worth.
Add an account
- On the Accounts tab, tap + (Add account).
- Enter a name, such as Chase Checking. Each account needs its own name.
- Pick a Type.
- Enter the Balance, or the Amount owed for a card or loan.
- Save.
Account types
| Type | Counts as |
|---|---|
| Checking, Savings, Cash, Investment, Other | Something you own |
| Credit card, Loan | A debt, which subtracts from your net worth |
The Accounts tab shows your Assets, Debts and Net worth at the top, then your accounts grouped under What you own and What you owe.
Keeping balances right
Tap an account to open it. To match your bank, use Update balance (or Update amount owed).
Balances also move by themselves when you add a transaction linked to the account:
- An expense lowers what you have in an account you own, and raises what you owe on a card or loan.
- Income does the opposite: it adds to an account you own, or pays down a card or loan.
- Deleting the transaction puts the balance back.
Transactions without an account, including ones imported from a CSV and bills that post themselves, don't change any balance.
The account screen also shows its Recent activity: the last 10 transactions linked to it.
Investment holdings
When you create an Investment account, you can turn on Track individual holdings. The account's value is then the total of its holdings instead of a single balance.
- Open the account and tap Add to add a holding: the ticker (such as AAPL), the number of shares, the total cost and the price per share.
- Prices are entered by hand. Update them when you want the value refreshed.
- Touch and hold a holding to delete it.
Holdings can only be turned on when the account is created.
Edit or delete an account
Open the account and tap Edit to rename it or change its type. Delete account removes it and its holdings. Its transactions stay in Activity, just without an account.
Your own fields
Want to note an account number ending, an interest rate or a renewal date? Add a custom field in More → Settings → Custom fields, and it appears under Your fields when you add or edit an account.
Accounts from linked banks
With bank sync, accounts are added for you when you link a bank, and their balances come straight from the bank. See how linked accounts are created.
