Bills and paychecks

Set up recurring bills and income once. Trinance posts them when they're due and reminds you before bills land.

Add a bill or income

  1. Go to the Plan tab and choose Bills or Income.
  2. Tap + (Add a bill, or Add income).
  3. Enter a name (such as Rent or Paycheck), the Amount and the Frequency.
  4. Set Next due: the next date it's paid or arrives. This is what makes it post and remind you.
  5. Pick a Category and save.

The form shows roughly what the item comes to per month. The Bills screen adds them all up as Bills per month and shows what's next.

Frequencies

  • Bills and income: Daily, Weekly, Biweekly, Monthly or Yearly.
  • Income only: Hourly. Enter your Hourly wage and Hours per week (1 to 168).

Tip: More → Tools → Paycheck works out your take-home pay, then Save as recurring income adds it here for you.

How bills post themselves

Each time you open a profile (pick it, or unlock it), Trinance adds every active bill and income that has come due as a transaction:

  • The transaction uses the item's name as its note and is marked with ↻ in Activity.
  • If you haven't opened the profile for a while, missed dates are caught up.
  • Next due then moves forward to the following date.

A few things to know:

  • Posted transactions aren't linked to an account, so they don't change account balances. Update the balance on the account, or let bank sync do it.
  • Items with no Next due date, and hourly income, never post. They still count in your predictions.
  • Monthly items due on the 29th, 30th or 31st move to the last day of shorter months, and then stay on that earlier day. Check the date after February.

Pause or resume

Use the switch on a bill or income, or swipe it and tap Pause. Paused items don't post, don't remind you and are left out of predictions. Tap Resume to bring one back.

Edit or delete

Tap an item to edit it. Deleting a bill or income keeps the transactions it already posted.

Reminders

Trinance can remind you before a bill is due, at 9 am, 1, 3 or 7 days ahead. See Notifications and reminders.
