Goals
Save toward something with a target, a date and a monthly plan, and see if you're on track.
Add a goal
- Go to Plan → Goals and tap + (Add a goal).
- Give it a name, such as Emergency fund, and a Target.
- Choose an Account to follow, or None, track manually.
- Enter what's Already saved.
- Under Plan, add a Target date and a Monthly contribution if you have them in mind. Both are optional.
- Save.
Add money to a goal
Tap Add on a goal, or swipe it and choose Add money, then enter the amount. This adds to what's saved so far. It doesn't move money or create a transaction.
Goals linked to an account
If a goal follows an account, its saved amount simply matches that account's balance, so there's nothing to add by hand. A savings account set aside for the goal works well. Only accounts you own (not cards or loans) can be linked.
What the status means
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Reached | You've saved the target. |
| On track | At your monthly contribution, you'll reach the target by the target date. |
| Behind | At your monthly contribution, you'll fall short by the target date. |
| Past due | The target date has passed and the goal isn't reached. |
| Saving | You have a monthly contribution but no target date. |
| No plan yet | There's no monthly contribution yet. |
With a target date, each goal shows how much you need per month to make it. With a monthly contribution, it shows roughly when you'll be done.
Goals and safe to spend
Monthly contributions are set aside before safe to spend is worked out, so what's left really is free to spend.
When you reach a goal
Trinance sends a notification the first time a goal is reached. Nice work.
